For protection reasons, I prefer to use make-up or face paint as opposed to masks. You can in effect make your own out of food coloring and corn starch. This is not only safer than using masks, but it's also cheaper, easier to apply, and comes off just as in effect with mild soap and water. A straightforward cream can be made with one part corn starch and two parts food coloring to originate the desired shade for your costume. Apply to the face with your fingers just like foundation. They can be sewn onto the back of the sweatshirt or fastened with elastic bands fitted colse to the child's arms. You could also try using Velcro for felt-covered wings. This not only sticks to the felt but to the shirt as well. Add an antennae headband and, if desired, some face paint. The headband can whether be purchased from the dollar store for a combine bucks or put together yourself using an ordinary black headband with black pipe cleaners attached.

A few years back, my kids decided that they wanted their costumes to match. We looked colse to the house and soon adequate found ourselves with a cowboy and an Indian. For the cowboy, my son donned a cowboy hat and boots, a western shirt, blue jeans and a denim jacket. All of which we already had. To accessorize the look, I tied (loosely) a red bandana colse to his neck and fastened the holster (complete with toy guns) colse to his waist. Once again, these were items that we already had on hand.

My daughter, of course, was the Indian. Her costume was also something we had just lying around. I took an old brown pillowcase and cut a v-neck hole in the lowest that was large adequate for my daughter's head to fit through. I then cut two more holes in whether side for her arms. I hand-stitched designs colse to both the neck line and lowest of the 'dress' and with a pair of scissors, I determined cut slits along the edges to give it a frilly look. For this costume, I wore a dark green leotard with green hose and slippers. I found a dark green table skirt and naturally cut out holes to allow me to both slip it over my head and run my arms through. I pinned some green synthetic leaves onto the leotard and table skirt along with itsybitsy tomatoes made from Styrofoam balls that were painted red and topped off with green stems (you can also use tomato pin cushions found in craft stores). I fulfilled, it off with a green beret full of leaves. By the way, I took the prize.

I have found balloons to be quite useful for costumes; however, they should only be applied to those of older children or adults. Once again, protection is leading and balloons tend to pop in effect and small children can accidentally try to eat the balloon pieces. Balloons are reasonable and come in a wide range of shapes, colors, and sizes. You can originate one-of-a-kind costumes with hardly any work involved. Aside from picking your jack-o-lantern pumpkins directly from the farm, an additional one way to spend less for the Halloween is by doing homemade Halloween costumes. The simpler the costume idea is, the easier it is to make, and the less material it's going to be made up of.

If you go for the patchwork though, just make sure you're not using a white cloth that's made of silk or satin. Otherwise the patch work might not end up flat if sewn by the hand. Once the black stripes are painted or sewn on the white cloth, it's time to sew the whole garment into something wearable. Sewing a pair of pajamas out of the printed cloth might look cute. Afterwards, you can just use two pairs of black socks, or a pair of black socks and a pair of black mittens for the zebra's legs. To add a zebra's tail, you can just use some black yarn, which you can glue at the back of the pajamas.

If you are attending an indoor Halloween party, then you shouldn't have any problems with this outfit. I've seen a lot of distinct versions of this costume and all of them looked amazing! I knew a friend who put on a bikini and tucked in some brown felt material around her top and bottom and looked just like she came out of the jungle! Nurse - If you've seen one, you've seen them all but I think the best nurse outfits are the ones that look like the old nurse's uniforms with the hat and dress in high heels. The leather outfits are sexy but a tiny played out for my taste. Indian (Native) - Theses are the Pocahontas type costumes with a singular feather protruding from the head band. Short p/leather material skirts and tops, an Indian necklace, moccasins, arm band, and bracelets and you're good to go! Indian (Bollywood) - This style has been seen more often and quite frankly, I think that they're sexy as well as elegant and beautiful. They have the tiny dot on their foreheads (bindi), a midriff top, silky loose pants, high heels, with a long scarf which I believe to be called a Sari wrapped loosely around their shoulders. I've seen these outfits mixed with a tiny Western style and it looks beautiful. Flight Attendant - I've only seen one of these costumes at a party and it looked Hot! The tiny hat, coat, with a button up shirt that is not necessarily buttoned up, short skirt, and high heels...need I say more? Mafiosa - I've seen this pulled off a combine of distinct ways. The outfits are supposed to portray the way the gangsters looked during the 1920's. One woman had a full striped suit with slacks, high heels, and a very sexy shirt underneath her coat, a fake Tommy gun, and the distinctive hats they wore back in those days. The other outfit was similar only with a loose skirt, high boots, a long coat, the hat, and a fake Tommy gun. Both were very hot. Police - I ordinarily wouldn't add this to my list except for the fact that I saw this one women in Vegas during a costume party and she had on a realistic finding police uniform, badge, fake gun (at least I think it was), holster, belt, cuffs, and here hair was slicked back and tied up in a bun. Her shirt was a bit revealing and I think the fact that the costume appeared so realistic as opposed to those played out pleather police skirts you see so often, made it so attractive. Polynesian Girl - What many refer to as a Hula Dancer. This can be pulled off a combine of distinct ways. First formula includes a grass skirt or sarong, coconut top or bikini top, a flower lei, and haku lei (the one that goes on the head). The second formula involves wearing a Hawaiian dress of sorts, and haku lei. The second is bit more conservative depending on the dress but still sexy.
